MIM, Congress woo Masqati family

The poll campaign in Hyderabad Parliament constituency and its Assembly segments, primarily comprising the Old City, has heated up with both the Congress and its opponent Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen trying to woo the Masqati family.
The Masqati family’s patriarch the late Ibrahim bin Abdullah Masqati, who passed away in 2015, was elected MIM’s Member of Legislative Assembly. He then joined the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in 2002 and later became a Member of Legislative Council and also served as Chairman of the Urdu Academy. His son, Ali bin Ibrahim Masqati, State vice-president of the TDP, plans to contest from the Charminar Assembly constituency.
