Between 2016 and 2019, 5,922 cases were registered under 'UAPA'. In the 2021 report of the National Crime Records Bureau i.e. 'NCRB', it was said that during this period, charges could be framed against a total of 132 people only. The then Union Minister of State for Home G Kishan Reddy told the Rajya Sabha that in 2019 alone, 1,948 cases were registered under UAPA across the country. Statistics show that this year the prosecution failed to prove charges against anyone due to which 64 people were acquitted by the court.
