Pilot vs Gehlot: PIL filed to seek salary withdrawal, benefits to MLAs staying in hotels

  • A petition has been filed in the HC to stop the salary and allowances of the MLAs staying in the hotel.
  • The petitioner Vivek Singh Jadaun has demanded that the salaries of those staying in a five-star hotel for 3 weeks should be withheld.
  • According to the petition, an MLA gets around 2.5 lakh rupees per month including salary and allowance, if he gets some expenses then he gets 3 lakh.
  • Jadaun said, "MLAs are staying in the hotels having no connection with the public in their constituencies & are not discharging their duty as per their oath to discharge duty MLAs."
  • "Further, no other responsible person is there to discharge duty in the absence of them, therefore, they should not be given any salary, allowance & other benefit or any kind of allowances," he added.
