To strengthen Indian Armed Forces, MoD to Procure 21 MiG-29s, 12 Su-30 MKI Aircraft

  • The Ministry of Defense approved the proposal for the acquisition of 21 MiG-29s along with the up-gradation of IAF’s existing MiG-29 aircraft.
  • The defense ministry also approved the procurement of 12 Su-30 MKI aircraft.
  • Acquisition of MiG-29 & its up-gradation from Russia will cost Rs 7418 Crores, while Su-30 MKI will cost Rs 10,730 and will be procured from HAL.
  • MoD in an official statement said that to strengthen the Armed Forces, the Defence Acquisition Council approved for acquisitions of the various equipment required by the Indian Forces.
  • Defense minister Rajnath Singh chaired the meeting.
