People Suffer In West Bengal As Private Doctors Stop Treating Them

  • The private practitioners have stopped seeing people suffering from chronic diseases across West Bengal.
  • Dr. Koushik Chaki, secretary, West Bengal Doctors Forum said, “The Medical Council of India has prescribed consultations over the phone and via videoconference for a good reason." 
  • He said that opening small clinics and doctor's chambers will lead to problems.
  • "These facilities are small and have little or no infrastructure to ensure social distancing, screen patients, record travel history and no availability of PPE, N95 masks, etc for doctors", he added.
