Health Ministry Issues Guidelines to Handle Mortal Remains of COVID 19 Fatalities
The Health minister released guidelines for the importation of remains of people who died due to coronavirus.
It said that when human remains of suspected or confirmed corona victims arrive at the airports then validation of cause of death, NOC from the embassies and embalming certificate has to be produced.
Guidelines also state that airlines shall ensure that all preventive measures related to the importation under Indian Aircraft (Public Health) Rules, 1954 are followed.
Apart from this, the person who will be handling the human remains should follow the procedure from wearing the PPE to washing hands, etc. to ensure that they remain protected.
The handler will be monitored for 28 days and the vehicle used would be disinfected as per the norms.
