Maharashtra Govt To Take Action Against People Spreading Fake News
Maharashtra govt warned people of the state against spreading rumours or sending fake messages on April 1 (April Fools' Day).
The govt said that it could lead to a situation of panic amid the novel coronavirus outbreak.
The state govt said that cases will be registered under the IT Act against anyone found guilty of such acts.
The police will also be monitoring social media handles.
The Mumbai police on Monday registered a case against one person who had sent a WhatsApp message in a group saying the military is being deployed in Mumbai.
