According to reports, the J&K administration has decided to hold local body polls in the UT.
J&K Chief electoral officer Shailendra Kumar said, "Panchayat elections for vacant posts of every block will be held using ballot boxes. It will be conducted in eight phases."
"The massive exercise will be conducted in eight phases. The model code conduct has come into forces in J&K," Kumar said.
Let us tell you that this will be the first major political exercise since the abrogation of Article 370 in August last year.
The UT is now governed by the LT Governor GC Murmu who was appointed by the center.
