MP- Yuva Halla Bol stands against the Buxwah diamond mine project, files an RTI demanding details on the project.

Madhya Pradesh govt has sent a proposal to clear Buxwaha Forest, leading to intensified reactions of several people. Opposing the move, Yuva Halla Bol has questioned the govt's proposal.

Yuva Halla Bol's Chief Spokesperson Rishav Ranjan has filed an RTI seeking important details on the project. Rishav has expressed worries that the govt is going with the project at a time when it is not even sure about the presence of diamonds in the forest.

Rishav said that this shows the real intention of the BJP govt which used to take an unfair side of corporates in return for political favors in the past. Rishav also demanded the interference of Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar by asking him not to give any chance to this disastrous project.

National Convenor of Yuva Halla Bol, Govind Mishra has also raised his voice against the Shivraj Singh govt's move. He said that the project for the clearance of Buxwaha Forest is distressing and self-harming. He said that all this clearance of over 2.15 lakh trees is planned for those diamond mines which has no conclusive survey-based claim. Govind has also announced to launch the 'Hara hi Heera hai' campaign to protect the forest area.

Apart from them, a member of the Environment Research Taskforce, Ankita Chauhan said that at the time of the ongoing pandemic, we cannot remain silent over the destruction of over 2 lakh trees. Ankita said that the Coronavirus pandemic has made all realized the importance of conservation of nature and the environment.

The fact to be known is that the Buxwaha Forest was surveyed twenty years ago, under the Bundar Diamond Project. An Australian company, Rio-Tinto also got a license to operate on this land and had found kimberlite. So, the govt and the corporate groups are only making assumptions. Yuva Halla Bol has expressed grief over the demise of Sunderlal Bhauguna, pioneer of the Chipko Movement. After his demise, more people have come together to save trees as a tribute to him. They say that they will continue fighting for causes like Buxwaha.
