For the past 16 months, there has been an atmosphere of violence in Manipur. The Kuki and Meitei communities have become almost bloodthirsty toward each other. During this violence, some incidents surfaced that shamed humanity. Hundreds of people have been killed, thousands have been displaced, and thousands are still suffering today living in relief camps. Meanwhile, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, has visited Manipur three times to meet with families affected by the violence. However, one leader from whom the country, especially the people of Manipur, had the most expectations, has not visited Manipur even once. Far from visiting, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has hardly even spoken about Manipur. The violence began on May 3, 2023, and three months later, Rahul Gandhi visited Manipur and met with the affected families. In August 2023, Prime Minister Narendra Modi mentioned Manipur in his speech but only for 30 seconds.
