Army General Gen Naravane visits India-China stand-off site in Ladakh to review ongoing situation

  • On the second day of his two-day-long visit to Ladakh, Army chief Gen MM Naravane on Wednesday visited eastern Ladakh, the place where fierce standoff between Indian and Chinese troops had taken place.
  • Gen Naravane, during his interaction with the soldier, commended the valour of the soldiers deployed on the frontlines amid harsh weather conditions and challenging terrain.
  • His visit to eastern Ladakh, where the Chinese troops had challenged the perceptive Line of Actual Control, is being seen as a significant gesture towards the soldiers. 
  • Gen Naravane had landed at the headquarters of 14 Corps, on Monday to review the situation and the operational preparedness of the troops.
  • 14 Corps was set up within months of the Kargil war to effectively guard the borders that run up to heights of 12,000 to 14,000 plus feet above sea level.
