India Could Have Reported 8.2 Lakh Cases If...: Health Ministry
Health Ministry said that the number of cases in India would have increased to 8.2 Lakh by April 15th had the center not implemented the lockdown.
Lav Agarwal, Joint Secretary in the Health Ministry said that early preemptive action has been taken to identify COVID-19 hotspots, along with the implementation of other containment measures.
Agarwal also stressed the importance of social distancing, lockdown and other efforts in the fight against COVID-19.
"Since we started promoting social distancing and implemented lockdown from March 25 along with other containment measures, there has been a decrease in cases.
According to the latest updates India has reported 7529 cases including 242 deaths.
