Nitish Govt Provides Financial Assistance to Over 1.03 Lakh Stranded Migrants

  • Nitish govt announced financial assistance of Rs 1000 to its lakhs of migrants stranded in other states due to the nationwide lockdown. 
  • The govt transferred a total sum of Rs 10.35 crore directly in the bank accounts of over 1.03 lakh migrant workers of Bihar outside the state. 
  • The process was done by CM Nitish Kumar under the ‘Mukhya Mantri Vishesh Sahayata Yojana’ from the CM Relief Fund.
  • An official said, "Within minutes of the clicking of the ‘mouse’ by the CM, Rs 1,000 per person was transferred in the bank accounts of 1,03,579 migrant workers through the direct DBT system."
  • Out of the total 1.03 lakh migrants, 7,281 came from Saran, followed by 6,821 from Muzaffarpur and 6,792 from Madhubani districts.
