PM Modi Lights a Lamp, Unites India for COVID-19 Battle

  • On Sunday night PM Modi joined millions of Indians as he turned off all the lights of his residence and lit a lamp in the drive to mark India's fight against COVID-19.
  • With pictures of him lighting a lamp PM Modi tweeted a Sanskrit shloka. 
  • The shloka means, "Salutations to the Light of the Lamp which Brings auspiciousness, health, and prosperity, which Destroys Inimical Feelings; Salutations to the Light of the Lamp.”
  • Union minister S Jaishankar also tweeted, “Two diyas - 1 for me and the other for my 88-year-old mother who could not be at the door. Joining an expression of mass solidarity. India stands united as never before.
  • Apart from them Ravi Shankar Prasad and Nirmala Sitharaman also joined in PM Modi's drive and lit diyas and candles.
