Five more Kashmiri political leaders released from detention
On Thursday, Five more Kashmiri politicians, detained after August 5, were released by Jammu and Kashmir administration after a gap of over five months.
The leaders were placed under detention on August 5, when the centre scrapped the erstwhile state's special status and bifurcated it into two union territories.
However, Kashmir's three most prominent leaders – NCP leaders Farooq Abdullah, his son Omar Abdullah and PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti -- continue to remain in detention.
Besides, on December 30, five other politicians, including two MLAs, were released from detention in the MLA hostel.
These developments come amid global calls for the release of all political detainees and lifting of Internet restrictions in the Valley.
